SSKEIN x ruari studio
Our collaboration with multidisciplinary artist Rory Flanigan of Ruari Studio returns for its second chapter. Following our 2024 La Vie En Rosettes—hand-sculpted rosettes—this season unfolds into the Peonettes: a peony sculpted entirely by hand, with a heart of woven silk at its center. An all-new form, and a limited edition of one-of-a-kind wearable art.
Each Peonette is shaped by hand from upcycled material waste rescued from our studio. Designed to be worn many ways—as a brooch, hairpin, belt detail, or a tie at the wrist or ankle—and to be lived in.
Why the peony
The peony has always been my favorite flower. In Chinese culture it is the king of flowers—a symbol of prosperity, honor, and beauty, and a bloom deeply tied to my heritage. It blooms in May, the month of my birthday, which has always made it feel like mine. Shaping it into the Peonettes felt personal: a way to carry where I come from into something you can wear.

meet the artist
Rory Flanigan is a multidisciplinary designer and artist working at the intersection of sculpture, visual art, and fashion. She holds a BA in Visual Art from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and is a graduate of the Fashion Design program at Parsons School of Design in New York City. She lives and works in the Pacific Northwest.
Her practice draws on the shapes, textures, and movement of the botanical world—flowers above all—and explores themes of impermanence and regeneration. A commitment to waste-reduction, upcycling, and reuse runs through everything she makes.

The styling options are endless. These are our favorites.
Hair accessory
Up your hair game! Keep the grosgrain tie as a bow and clip onto a hair tie. Instantly adds drama to your coif.
Wrist Corsage
Just like prom, but instead more sustainable. Styling it on the wrist, adds femininity and dimension to the outfit. Tying it over a full or longer sleeve, helps reduce the length and increase drama.
Ankle tie
This is as chic as it gets! Tie it around the ankles with wide leg trousers to create a cinched leg. Both practical and decorative!
Choker
Wear it as "jewelry"! Adding a feminine Parisian touch to any outfit, by tying it around the neck.
Belt Decor
Clip them on to any belt or use the provided grosgrain ribbon as a tie.
